Hello and welcome to Swimming + Data Science. I’m Greg Pilgrim and I’m a scientist. While I earned my PhD in Chemistry my career has evolved such that I’m now about half chemist, half data scientist. Swimming + Data Science is a project to explore and share my interest in swimming through data science, mostly using the R programming language.

I swam in USA Swimming, on my high school and college varsity teams, and now I swim in US Masters Swimming, in addition to officiating at the high school and college levels. I’m also the author of the SwimmeR R package as well as this Shiny app currently featured on the Shiny user showcase.

I’m constantly fishing around in swimming data, and when anything comes to the surface I’ll share it here. Thanks for reading!
